Bio:
Meera is an MBA from INSEAD, France and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (UK).In her banking career spanning 30 years, Meera is the Ex-Chairperson & CEO of the Royal Bank of Scotland, in her 21 years with the Bank in India she has been leading over 14,000 employees. Meera was a member of Hillary Clinton’s International Council on Women’s Business Leadership (ICWBL) and is a member of the National Executive and Inclusive Governance Councils of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, and chair of FICCI’s Financial Inclusion Committee. She is also a member of the National Councils for Public Policy and Women’s safety of the Confederation of Indian Industry. (CII).Meera is the Chairperson of Liberals India for Good Governance – the Indian Liberal Group Post the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai, Meera stood as an independent candidate for the 2009 LokSabha elections, and will stand again in 2014. Meera was awarded the Philanthropist of the Year award by FICCI, Woman Banker of the Year award by the Indian Merchants Chamber, the Woman of Substance Award by the Rotary Club; and the Karmaveer Puraskaar, a national people’s award instituted by iCongo, a countrywide confederation of NGOs, for her work in social development. She is married, has two children and enjoys yoga, meditation and reading.
